The origin and development of the debut took place in close connection with the development of the defense of Nimtsovich. The main New Indian defense options arise after 1. d4 Kf6 2. c4 eb 3. KJ3 b6. Since White do not threaten to immediately play e2-e4, Black can proceed with the development of the queenside.
